• ELECTRICITY: A part of Georgia's modern integrated electrical transmission system, Gwinnett County has excellent ability to supply industrial demands. Compared to 47% for the U.S., coal accounts for 84% of fuel used by the state's power generating plants. This assures long-term continuity. Gwinnett County is served by Georgia Power and 3 electric membership cooperatives, thus giving electricity users a very competitive market from which to choose. If demand exceeds 900kw, any supplier can step in and offer service.

• Ivy Creek Elementary School was opened in 2003 with 930 students and a staff of ninety-eight. For the 2006-2007 school year Ivy Creek projected an enrollment of 1282 with a staff of one-hundred forty. Ivy Creek is dedicated to the academic achievement, health and wellness of our students, families and staff. In August 2003, Ivy Creek began an alliance with Kids’ Health, Inc, establishing the IvyCreek Elementary School/Community School Health Council which has lead to the formation of Peer Action Leadership Team (PAL) for students. The Charter PTA financed a paved walking track, allowing Ivy Creek to sponsor Family Track Nights, and they are quickly becoming a community center for the area.

  GWINNETT COUNTY PROPERTY TAX (EXAMPLE):
  
  Mathematics of Property Tax Example (Gwinnett):
  
  To determine the amount of your property taxes, several values are needed. These values are the Fair Market Value (FMV), Assessed Value (ASV), and the Millage Rate. The Millage Rate is defined as dollars per $1,000.00 of assessed value. For 2006, the Millage Rate for Gwinnett County has been set at $32.27 per $1000.00 or the decimal equivalent of .03227.
  
  Fair Market Value (F.M.V.) X 40% = Assessed Value
  
  Assessed Value X Millage = Tax
  
  Millage is usually expressed as dollars per $1,000.00 of Assessed Value
  
  Example: In 2006, Gwinnett County's millage rate is set at .03227. If your property has a FMV of $500,000, the ASV would be 40% or $200,000. Multiply the ASV of $200,000 by the millage rate of .03227 to determine your property taxes. In this example, property taxes would be $6,454.00
